Great comment from KC Johnson's blog:
The Brodhead comments [in the Justin Pope AP interview /story] are very revealing.
NOT ONE WORD OF SYMPATHY FOR THE ACCUSED STUDENTS.
It's all about how the faculty have been victims in this.
Duke seems to have no moral core.
Three of their students have been the victims of a frame up.
They have been facing charges with a 30 year jail sentence.
They have spent millions in legal fees.
They were pilloried for weeks on the campus.
They have in at least one case been the victim of grade retaliation.
They have been publicly condemned by numerous members of the faculty.
They had their pictures displayed on the cover of Newsweek as the poster children for rich white boy sexual and racial aggression.
They have been the victims of continual prosecutorial misconduct of a flagrant variety.
There seems to be only one subject taught at Duke.
The only people who have been truly hurt by this case have been the accused students, the other lacrosse players and their former coach. Brodhead obviously doesn't feel bad about it.
