Steve Monks is a limp pathetic lying loser.

Steve Monks stated at an October 27th press conference that he was committed to defeating Mike Nifong, and for him, "The primary concern is electability."

Steve Monks intentionally sabotaged the "Recall Nifong - Vote Cheek" campaign and stopped any chance of removing Mike Nifong from the DA's office. For his dirty disingenuous campaign Steve Monks will forever be known as a limp pathetic lying loser.

The News & Observer reported:

As the election neared, Monks' and Cheek's supporters accused one another of keeping the other from winning, and they argued over who should quit. On Tuesday, Cheek's backers said that Monks kept Cheek from winning.

"We've told him for weeks that he could end up being the one that spoiled it, and he was," said Brewer, the anti-Nifong spokeswoman.

Monks said Tuesday that the people who voted for him wanted to vote for an actual candidate.

"If they hadn't voted for me they would have voted for Nifong," Monks said. "I know that's the case because I talked to them."

Mike Nifong 49.1%

Lewis Cheek 39.3%

Write-in (Steve Monks) 11.6%

Steve Monks is still lying.

update: 11/12
DurhamRepublicans.org, SHAME SHAME SHAME! on Monks - We can do little more now than apologize to the people of the city of Durham for the actions of the "hijacked", "official" Durham County GOP.

Honestly, as someone who voted for Monks, I thought it would be cool to write in a candidate. I also thought that Nifong had a lot less support. To all of you who voted Cheek, I apologize for not getting more information on this. The stakes for justice were pretty high and I got caught up in a romantic campaign. I've learned a very harsh lesson about throwing votes around.
