Newsday is reporting - Duke lacrosse to return:
Duke University will announce plans to reinstate its embattled men's lacrosse program and name former Duke and Comsewogue High School [Long Island] star Kevin Cassese interim head coach early next week, according to three people familiar with the situation.
Cassese, 25, served as an assistant coach at Duke this spring and was an assistant at Stony Brook University last year...
Cassese was a two-time team captain and three-time All-America at Duke and was the nation's top midfielder in 2002. One of the world's top players, he was a member of the gold-medal U.S. National Team at the 2002 World Championships and he will play for the United States again at this summer's tournament. He currently plays for the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse.
Three Duke players picked in professional lacrosse draft:
Three members of the Duke University men's lacrosse team, whose college careers ended abruptly when a woman accused three of their teammates of rape, will get a chance to play professionally.
Matt Zash, Kyle Dowd and Dan Flannery were each selected in the Major League Lacrosse draft this week.
Zash, a midfielder and co-captain of the Duke team from Massapequa, N.Y., was chosen by the Philadelphia Barrage with the sixth pick in the first round. He could make his professional debut as soon as this weekend...
Dowd, a midfielder from East Northport, N.Y., was taken in the third round (25th overall) by San Francisco, while Flannery - an attacker from Garden City, N.Y. - went to Chicago in the fourth round (35th overall).
Duke lacrosse player charged with drug possession, DUI:
A member of the Duke University men's lacrosse team has been charged with drug possession and driving while impaired, police said Friday.
Police said Matthew Peter Wilson, 21, of Durham, registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.21 percent when given a breath test after he was stopped at about 2:30 a.m. on May 24. The legal limit for drivers in North Carolina is 0.08.
Police said they found marijuana and a glass pipe in the vehicle. Wilson was charged with driving while impaired, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and running a red light. He was released after signing a promise to appear in court Aug. 1.

Duke University officials have suspended a Duke lacrosse player from the team after he was arrested in Chapel Hill last week and charged with driving while impaired and possession of marijuana.
