The Great Bacon Conspiracy

Kevin Bacon is at the root of all that's screwing up America.

Bernard Goldberg recently wrote a book called The 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America. It identified by name the people responsible for the decline of American culture. If you closely examine the individuals listed in this book you will notice that they share some common characteristics. Yes, many of those listed might be classified as liberals or Democrats. However, the single greatest common denominator among all these individuals is they are all "show people" or closely connected to "show people."

Some further investigation reveals a deeper truth about The 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America. Every one of them is linked to the global tap root of all show people: Kevin Bacon.

This far reaching Bacon conspiracy is a Hollywood spider web of interrelationships between politicians, writers, entertainers, journalists, educators, executives, and cartoonists. This Bacon bunch is a unfettered chattering class of symbol manipulators bent on cultural pollution.

It has been said politics is show business for ugly people. Does the reciprocal apply: is show business just politics for pretty people? Do these other corollaries apply: is education just show business for bad actors? Are musicians frustrated actors? Is journalism merely show business for failed actors? Is the legal profession a home for tormented actors. Are cartoons show business for shy actors? And is business simply a vehicle to make money in order to finance more show business?

Maybe we should all forget about making real things in this country. Let's just put on our pancake makeup and give them a show; the crappier and more unseemly the better.

How exactly did Kevin Bacon become the center of this twisted universe?

Do these Bacon conspirators share the same sickness? Were they all bitten by the acting bug in junior high? Forty-three of the one hundred are directly listed in the Internet Movie/Actor Database. Have they all become corrupt applause junkies, who will stop at nothing to pander to our lowest common denominator and debase our culture? These are generally people with big appetites who will say or do anything they please as they wrap themselves in the First Amendment and the other freedoms of this country.

Are extremist "show people" the root of an evil, anything goes mentality, that is undermining our standards of public decorum and decency? Are "show people" and the Hollywood establishment amoral saboteurs blowing up American culture and corrupting our children?

The answers depend on your upbringing and your past experiences. If you were freighted by carnival people as a young child you will certainly have issues with show people in general. You'll agree with Austin Powers, who said: "I'm only afraid of nuclear war and carneys." If you acted in your school play, sing show tunes in the shower, and are enthralled by the Academy Awards show; then you're probably not creeped out by a chattering class of self-serving show people. Some might even spin an amoral media elite by saying: "Everything Bad is Good for You."

Ironically that icon of conservatism, Ronald Reagan, was a show person, but that has not changed Hollywood's image problem. Currently, Hollywood looks like the dark valley of sin from the moral high ground in middle America. The battle lines of American politics now run straight through Hollyweird. Will Kevin Bacon become the new "third rail" of American politics?

Here is the breakdown of The Great Bacon Conspiracy: "the people who are screwing up America social network." Use this information to connect your own dots, make your own links, and draw your own conclusions.
